Lead Site Coordinator – Kansas City, MO


Position Overview

The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs or GEAR UP program is seeking a Lead Site Coordinator to develop and implement pre-college programming in the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools. The Lead Site Coordinator will academically and financially prepare middle and high school students for postsecondary education. The Lead Site Coordinator will use independent judgement and discretion when engaging and working with teachers, parents, and community partners to successfully meet GEAR UP objectives. The Lead Site Coordinator will also serve as part of the project team when discussing overall program objectives with district and school administrators. The successful applicant will have college access, classroom, and professional development experience.

Job Description

50% - Assist with the implementation and planning of the GEAR UP program. Coordinate various program activities for students and families. Assist in the management of the GEAR UP budget. Ensure that various program activities are successfully implemented. Execute the collection and update of the data portal. Develop and maintain close working relationships with partners, administrators, teachers, and parents. Maintain a daily presence at the schools. Assist with the recruitment, supervision, and the training of tutors and mentors.
25% - Conduct day-to-day program activities and services of the GEAR UP Program. Provide STEM opportunities for participants. Provide college-fit opportunities for all students by arranging campus visits to various institutions of higher education. Act as a resource to teachers at the target schools.

20% - Collect and enter data. Supervise and manage the student filing system/database system and documentation of participants. Provide data to the Evaluation Team upon request. Ensure the fidelity of data collection.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Work will be performed on-site in Kansas City Missouri Public Schools. Other locations for events may be required.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field and 1 year of experience in field of study.
  2. Two years direct work experience with target population in a school setting.
  3. Two years professional experience with target areas and community resources
  4. Two years professional experience with financial aid and postsecondary admissions process

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s Degree in education, counseling, or related field
  2. Experience with GEAR UP/TRIO Programs
  3. Classroom teaching experience
  4. STEM Background
  5. ELL background

Advertised Salary Range

Starting at $56,000

Work Schedule

Professional hours may occasionally exceed 40 hours per week. Evening and weekend events required.
