Postdoctoral Researcher
Position Overview
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kansas seeks to fill a postdoctoral researcher position in experimental condensed matter physics, working in the group of Professor Hui Zhao.
Starting Date: August 1, 2023 or as soon thereafter as the position can be filled (also negotiable).
Length of Appointment: Initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of renewal annually subject to review and continued grant funding.
GENERAL DUTIES: The successful candidate will join Professor Hui Zhao’s Ultrafast Laser Lab, working on ultrafast laser spectroscopy of novel materials.

Job Description
Conduct research on optical spectroscopy of nanoscale semiconductors such as two-dimensional materials and their heterostructures, including project design, experiments, data analysis, publication of research results, and presentations; Contribute to lab responsibilities and maintenance; Provide guidance to students.
80%: Design and lead research projects. Data acquisition and analysis, manuscript preparation, and presentations.
10%: Contribute to lab responsibilities and maintenance.
10%: Assist the faculty in guiding students.

Position Requirements
The position is located at Gray-Little Hall, Lawrence Campus
Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in physics or a related field by date of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Ph.D. within the last four years.
- Experience in ultrafast laser spectroscopy.
- Experience in two-dimensional materials.
