Postdoctoral Researcher


Position Overview

A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Jai Subramanian (https://pharmtox.ku.edu/jai-subramanian) in the School of Pharmacy (https://pharmacy.ku.edu) at the University of Kansas. The successful candidate will use state of the art multi-color, multi-photon imaging to study the in vivo synaptic dynamics associated with memory loss in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease.

The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated scientist with experience in animal surgeries. Programming (MATLAB, Java) experience is highly desirable.

Job Description

80% - Plan, conduct experiments (mouse surgeries, multiphoton imaging, etc.) and analyze data to understand the mechanisms of synaptic dysfunction in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease.

10% - Lab management responsibilities such as equipment maintenance, inventory maintenance, and assistance in animal care.

10% - Train graduate and undergraduate students in performing research.

Required Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. in Neuroscience or closely related field.
  2. Prior experience in animal surgeries and in vivo imaging
NOTE: To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title, it is necessary to have the PhD conferred at the time of hire. Appointments made without a diploma or certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an interim basis not to exceed 6-months. Upon verification of degree the appointment will be extended to its full duration. This position is limited term with a typical duration of 1-5 years. Individuals who have served for a total of 5 years or more as a postdoc fellow/researcher (at KU or any university) are not eligible.
