Academic Affairs Student Office Assistant


Position Overview

The Office of Academic Affairs, located in Strong Hall, room 133 serves as a central point of connection and information for students, faculty, and staff. This office houses the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs as well as several team members from various units within Academic Affairs including Academic Success. The Student Office Assistant is a critical member of the team providing front-line customer service and reception assistance at the front desk of the office suite and/or website support.

Job Description

80% - Website Management
  • provides service by developing and updating unit websites
20% - General Office Support
  • referring messages and inquiries appropriately
  • accepting packages, distributing packages, responding to or forwarding departmental email, adding paper to the office copier, scanning documents
  • assisting with special office projects

Required Qualifications

  1. Experience providing website support
  2. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite as demonstrated in the application materials.
  3. Prior work experience that required high-quality customer service as evidenced by application materials.
  4. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Eligible for Federal Work Study through KU Financial Aid.
  2. Experience in a customer service position.
  3. Demonstrated ability to learn new technology systems.
  4. Experience multitasking/executing multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Prior work experience as a communicator via phone, email, and other virtual means – as demonstrated by materials.

Advertised Salary Range

$10.50/hr

Work Schedule

6-10 hours per week. The Office of Academic Affairs is open from 8am – 5pm; Monday – Friday.
