The Academic Learning Center (ALC) is a unit in the USAC that provides programming to all KU students in the form of Supplemental Instruction (SI), Tutoring Services, Academic Consultations, and Academic Success Workshops. SI is an academic support program utilizing peer-led study sessions to enhance student performance in specific classes.

The SI Leader, as a representative of Supplemental Instruction (SI), leads engaging and collaborative study sessions for one specific class. SI Leaders must be available to attend the lectures and then prepare for study sessions that are held twice a week. The sessions are on a set schedule beginning the second week of classes through the last week of classes. To prepare for their roles, SI Leaders are expected to attend: a multi-day training prior to the start of their sessions as well as SI Leader meetings that are held biweekly throughout the semester.

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Current University of Kansas undergraduate student enrolled in six or more credit hours.
- A minimum of a B letter grade in the selected class.
- Strong proven written communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.
- Professor approval for the class in which the applicant is applying.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong proven verbal communication skills, as evidenced by the interview.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Experience leading small groups.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Experience providing academic support and/or tutoring.
- Strong proven attention to detail, as demonstrated by the application materials and work experience.
