Class Assistant (Grader)
Position Overview
The Department of Mechanical Engineering invites candidates to submit application materials for consideration as needs arise for Graders. Please specify in your application which classes you prefer to assist in.
Courses available for Class Assistant application:
Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).

- ME 612 – Heat Transfer – Dr. Bergman
- ME 628 – Mechanical Design – Dr. Sorem
- ME 661 – Finite Element Method – Dr. Sorem

Required Qualifications
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
- have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
- be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
- be enrolled in summer session or
- be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be for undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments.)
- Must be a current Mechanical Engineering student at KU.
- Must have completed the course for which you are applying and received an A or B in the course.

Advertised Salary Range
