Data Entry Student Library Assistant


Position Overview

This position is in a public library, archiving state geological records, entering data and assisting staff and customers in person. Flexibility is allowed within scheduled hours and with the start date.

Job Description

75% - Enter data and scan records, proof data and scans.

15% - Sort, organize, incorporate, and file records.

5% - Communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, and patrons requesting information.

5% - Other duties as directed.

Required Qualifications

  1. Experience with data entry, as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Attention to detail, as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Coursework or interest in geology, geography or other earth sciences, as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Experience with the water well industry and/or oil production operations, as evidenced by application materials.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.

(3) Must be able to push rolling bookcases in confined area, climb step ladders, and lift 25 pounds or more, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

(4) Must be able to work in storage areas, capable of occasionally working with old documents which may be dusty, musty, or moldy, with or without reasonable accommodation.

(5) Must work a minimum of 2 hours per shift.
