FYW Summer Administrative Intern
Position Overview
The FYW Summer Administrative Intern works for the Department of English. The intern supports the work of the First Year Writing program by completing tasks assigned by the Director of First Year Writing and Director of Composition.
Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).

Job Description
100% completing duties assigned by the FYW Directors: which may include helping to develop teaching resource materials for FYW Canvas site, revising and updating the website, helping design training materials, editing the Manual for Teachers, assisting with preparing for the orientation for new graduate teaching assistants in August, assisting in implementing projects designed to improve the program.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of English at the University of Kansas who are not scheduled to teach during the summer
- For summer periods the student hourly must:
1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
2) be preenrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
3) be enrolled in summer session or
4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in Writing Program Administration
- Experience with committee work or other administrative duties
