Graduate Student Testing Assistant - Student Access Center
Position Overview
The Graduate Student Testing Assistant assists the full-time Testing Coordinator in coordinating and administering exams for KU students, including accommodated exams for students registered with the Student Access Center and make-up exams. Staffing a table at events and assisting with other projects is also possible.
Job Description
- 75% Assist full-time Testing Center staff in coordinating academic testing, including providing accommodations for KU students with disabilities by proctoring accommodated exams. Other duties related to testing can include:
- Printing exams for students
- Scanning exams for return to instructors
- Scanning test cover sheets for electronic filing
- Undergoing training for providing accommodations
- Frequent correspondence with faculty, staff, students, and multiple academic departments on campus.
- 15% Assist SAC professional staff in accessible print production including the scanning and conversion of print-based materials into accessible formats.
- 5% Represent Student Access Center at information tables or other orientation events.
- 5% Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled KU Graduate student
- Experience using common office technologies as demonstrated by previous work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interest in working with students with disabilities as evidenced by cover letter.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication skills as demonstrated by the interview.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Access and Excel, and Adobe products as demonstrated in the application materials.
Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or be enrolled in summer session or be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
