Lead Academic Navigator-Student Hourly
Position Overview
Job Description
Support KU TPE academic advising including:
40%-Provide lead Academic Navigator activities such as: Develop Material/resources, communicate with volunteer, Academic Navigators, assist in developing Academic Navigator volunteer schedules. Fill-in for volunteer Academic Navigators as needed/able.
45% -At the direction of the Academic Advisor, develop learning materials for students (e.g. study guides, how to guides, structured writing documents, videos, other visuals, etc.) and help them access KU academic resources (e.g., Writing Center, Wingspan, Testing Center, etc.).
10% -Attend Academic Navigator trainings and program events (e.g. Early Prep, Orientation, Family Weekend).
5% -Document activities related to Academic Navigators.
Required Qualifications
- Student in good academic standing.
- Demonstrated experience using technologies related to learning such as: MS Office (Outlook email and calendar, in particular), Canvas, Quizlet, etc., as shown in application materials.
- Completion or current enrollment in C&T 222 TPE Peer Navigator Service Learning OR completion of C&T 598: TPE Navigators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with people with disabilities or mentoring others.
- Previous experience providing tutoring or other academic support.
- Experience with and knowledge of a variety of KU resources and student services.
- Demonstration of responsibility, positive attitude, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated organization skills.
- Work Study Eligible.

Employment Conditions
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
