Lied Center Student Marketing Assistant


Position Overview

The Lied Center Student Marketing Assistant will assist the full-time marketing staff in processing/posting/distributing data, information and materials, as well as implementing promotional initiatives related to performances and events in the Lied Series, which is the Center’s professional touring artist series, along with other events as requested. This position also requires the availability to work 8–10 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with a set schedule.

Job Description

25% – Help create marketing emails using the Lied Center’s email marketing platform with training and guidance.
20% – Compiling zip-code and ticket-revenue information, and other data for analysis as requested, which includes gathering information from the Lied Center's ticketing system with training and guidance.
20% – Assist with gathering post-performance survey data.
10% – Assist with maintaining and processing promotional mailing lists, including email lists and U.S. mail.
5% – Assist in writing and editing season materials, including performance programs, news releases, website content and more.
5% – Distributing promotional materials on KU's campus and in Lawrence area as requested.
5% – Assist with projects including event marketing campaigns, media relations and special promotions.
5% – Word processing and digital filing.
5% – Other duties as requested that impact Lied Center marketing and performance initiatives.





Required Qualifications

  1. Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at the University of Kansas.
  2. Previous experience in utilizing writing, editing, analytical and communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Background in Business Marketing, Journalism, English, Theatre or related field, as evidenced in application materials.
  4. Work experience utilizing typing/computer skills using PC computer platform (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.), as evidenced by application materials.
  5. Work experience utilizing organizational and interpersonal skills, as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prior office experience.
  2. Background in the performing arts.
  3. Sophomore level status and above a plus.
  4. Self-motivated, reliable and responsible.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
