Peer Health Education Coordinator - Student Hourly
Position Overview
This is a student hourly position working in the department of the Health Education Resource Office (HERO) to assist with programming and student engagement.
This position will see, hear and possibly have access to confidential information that must be handled in accordance with all relevant state and federal laws and University policies and procedures regarding its use and disclosure.
HERO utilizes computer technology in all aspects of its operations, including an electronic health record system.
Must become familiar with and be able to use the appropriate computer hardware and software programs associated with this position.
Must become familiar with and adhere to the Customer Service Plan to ensure appropriate interaction and positive outcomes with both internal and external customers.

Job Description
1. Plan and implement health education programs for the KU Community. 2. Develop and design both interactive and passive (bulletin boards, newsletters, social media, etc.) programming. 3. Present on a variety of health education topics. 4. Recruit and train volunteer Peer Health Educators. 5. Attend the health and wellness events throughout the year. 6. Assist in assessment of programs. 7. Other duties as assigned. |
Required Qualifications
1. Enrolled in 6 credit hours or more at the KU-Lawrence campus. 2. Availability to work in 3 hour blocks of time, including some nights and weekends. 3. Possess excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills as evidenced in application materials. 4. Must have public speaking skills. 5. Proficient use of: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; Facebook and Twitter. |
Preferred Qualifications
1. Sophomore, junior, senior or graduate level student.
2. Work study eligible.
3. Previous experience in health education.
4. Health-related major or background.
5. Volunteer Peer Health Educator.
