Pool: J Cafe Barista
Position Overview
The J Café is a student-run coffee shop within the School of Business. The Café is entirely student-led, providing business students with experiential learning. Baristas are needed to fulfill this mission.
Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).

Job Description
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
40% - preparing drinks,
20% - working cash register,
20% - simple stocking, and
20% - providing customer service/assistance.

Required Qualifications
- Availability to work the following shifts: Tuesdays 12:45-2:30 PM, and/or Wednesdays 11:00 AM-12:45 PM, and/or Thursdays 7:15 -9:15 AM.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
- have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
- be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
- be enrolled in summer session or
- be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be for undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent cash-handling skills, customer service skills, experience working in a restaurant environment, time-management skills.
- Preference will be given to a student with additional shift availability: Fridays, Mondays 9:00 AM – 12:45 PM, and/or Tuesdays 2:30-4:30 PM, and/or Thursdays 2:30-4:30 PM.
