POOL Student Hourly - Web Developer


Position Overview

Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).

Job Description

  • 30% - Assist campus staff in designing, developing, deploying and maintaining sites in the campus CMS.
  • 30% - Assist in providing service and support to campus staff for varying web related technical issues.
  • 20% - Assist full-time staff in the design, development and deployment of websites for various departments around campus.
  • 20% - Assist training of campus staff in the use of the campus CMS (Drupal).
All KU IT personnel are required to abide by University and Information Technology security and network policies, KU IT policies and procedures, and to sign a confidentiality agreement & data usage agreement annually.

Required Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated experience with HTML and CSS.
  2. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Position Requirements
Student/s hired are expected to work 15 - 20 hours a week, Monday through Friday.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience producing technical documentation.
  2. Experience with development in a UNIX/LINUX environment.
  3. Experience with and/or knowledge of the following:
  • CMS System (Drupal/Wordpress)
  • HTML/CSS/JS
  • Photoshop or other graphics software
  • Git or other version control system
  • Application/web security
