Production Intern - Student Hourly


Job Description

  • Editing, producing and preparing audio files for broadcast on Audio-Reader programs:
    • Books, special programs
    • Special requests, program promos
    • Additional assignments as needed (could include production work for Kansas Public Radio)
  • Script, record, and produce program promos for books, audio description events and other assignments.
  • Assist Program Manager in administration, production and editing of podcasts and special projects:
    • Good Works in the Heartland Podcast
    • The Community Hour
    • The Fabulous Fifties program series
    • Embattled Lawrence book project
    • Other projects as assigned
  • Research and coordinate guests for podcasts.
  • Support promotion and marketing efforts for podcasts.
  • Coordinate and train volunteers in recording or reading for program production, as needed.
  • Support program administration of all programs including documentation, program descriptions, promos, social media posts and other items required for regular programming.
Assist at the Audio-Reader front desk, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  1. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
  2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software products.
  3. Consistent availability to work at least three (3) days per week.
  4. Strong attention to detail as evidenced in application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Previous experience working in an administrative/office setting.
  2. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent audio editing software.
  3. Comfortable working with a wide variety of people.

Advertised Salary Range

$15.00 per hour

Work Schedule

10 - 15 hours weekly between 8am - 5pm, Monday thru Friday
