Senior Student Leader – Student Hourly


Position Overview

International Short Programs (ISP) typically runs 6-12 short-stay programs annually for international students and professionals. Programs usually include an academic component but almost always have a strong emphasis on extracurricular activities and experiential learning. Programs range from 2 weeks to 9 months in duration and do not usually follow the typical academic calendar. The Senior Student Leader position for ISP will assist with administrative duties related to managing these short-term programs.

Job Description

  • Assist in preparing informational materials, program booklets and one-page advertisements for ISP programs
  • Assist in creating classroom/activity materials for programs
  • Assist in maintaining online databases, organizing files and photos, and other organizational needs
  • Monitor ISP email and alert full-time staff as necessary
  • Assist with social media strategy and management including photo documenting activities as needed
  • Assist with ISP marketing/tabling events
  • Assist with program errands/purchasing and transportation
  • Chaperone/lead program activities such as field trips as needed and as schedule permits
  • Research potential program activities for program growth and development
  • Assist primary instructor/facilitator of ISP workshops and orientation sessions
  • Perform other program-level administrative tasks as needed

Required Qualifications

  1. During the semester term of the appointment, the student must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods, the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester; (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours; (3) be enrolled in summer session; or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  3. Experience working independently and functioning in an organized and professional manner
  4. Demonstrated computer competency (Office, Outlook, databases, web skills), as evidenced by application materials
  5. Ability to drive a 12-passenger van (age 21 or older with valid U.S. driver's license)
  6. A willingness to chaperone evening and weekend trips and activities as needed, if schedule permits
  7. Must be able to work 30-40 hours per week in the Summer (10-20 hours per week in Fall/Spring term)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Graduate student
  2. Experience living or studying in another country
  3. Proficiency in a foreign language
  4. Experience working and/or interacting in a multi-cultural environment
  5. Experience working with/on social media for an organization

Advertised Salary Range

$20 per hour

Work Schedule

10-20 hours per week in Fall/Spring Term
30-40 hours per week in Summer Term
