Social Media Specialist


Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and creative student worker to join the Department of Religious Studies for Fall 2024. The ideal candidate will manage our social media accounts, share departmental and campus events, engage with religious content, and assist in content creation. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the department’s online presence and engage with the campus community.

Job Description

  • Social Media Management (30%): Oversee and manage the Department’s social media accounts/campaigns.
  • Reposting Department Events (20%): Share updates and information about our department's events on social media platforms.
  • Sharing Campus Happenings (20%): Repost relevant campus news, announcements, and activities.
  • Engaging with Religious Content (10%): Monitor and engage with content related to religion that aligns with our department's mission and values.
  • Monitoring Social Media Channels (10%): Respond to inquiries, comments, and messages on our social media channels.
  • Assisting with Content Creation (10%): Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and create engaging content for social media platforms.

Required Qualifications

  1. Excellent proofreading skills.
  2. Ability to work independently, including actively reposting relevant content on Twitter.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Proficiency in using social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
  5. Ability to stay informed about campus events and activities.
  6. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in social media management.
  2. Knowledge of religious studies or related fields.
