Social Media Student Coordinator- Student Hourly

Position Overview

The Social Media Student Coordinator is a key member of the Admissions’ marketing team and manages projects to market the KU Office of Admissions. The coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing strategic digital marketing activities, such as monitoring Admissions’ social media presence. The coordinator’s focus will be to generate high-quality leads, drive event registrations, engage prospective students, and increase the online following of Admissions’ content.

Job Description

Social Media (70%)
• Plans and implements digital marketing content strategy across social media channels
• Develops and maintains the digital marketing content calendar, designing and writing content, based on marketing goals and messages
• Creates new social media campaigns coordinating efforts across distribution channels
• Enhances content by developing photography and video assets
• Works with current students to garner student-generated content and social posts

Event Promotion (20%)
• Collaborates across Admissions to coordinate promotional activities for recruiting events
• Plans, Implements, and Optimizes event promotion strategy and presenting recommendations
• Posts, edits, and adds captions to recorded events
• Designs and creates materials for events using a suite of creative software

Analytics Reports (10%)
  • Compiling data from the @beajayhawk accounts on X, Facebook, and Instagram monthly using template provided
  • Adding content recommendations based on these analytics reports

Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment as a KU Journalism Student in at least 6 credit hours.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
  • Prior experience with social media coordination.

  • Flexible schedule, dependable and a self-starter
  • Enthusiasm to positively represent the University of Kansas
  • Ability to be well organized and possess good time management skills
  • Experience with design template applications, such as InDesign or Canva
