Student Events Assistant
Position Overview
The School of Education & Human Sciences Dean's Office is seeking an Event Assistant to assist with a broad range of event coordination and management duties. The position provides hands-on experience in event coordination. The Event Assistant will work from hire date through the May SOEHS Graduation Ceremony. Throughout their employment, student employees will maintain and manifest positive actions that align with and support the Code of Conduct for the School of Education & Human Sciences.
Job Description
70% – Provide logistical and operational support for the School of Education & Human Sciences Events Team, including managing room requests, assisting with the creation and innovation of new and existing events, and supporting event operations such as nametag preparation, report generation, and volunteer scheduling.
15% – Support SOEHS programs by assisting with event setup and breakdown, as well as maintaining and organizing the events closet. This will include physical labor during events.
10% – Assist in overseeing and coordinating the SOEHS fall and spring graduation ceremonies.
5% – Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.
- Must be able to support event setup and breakdown, including moving furniture, signage, and decorations.
- Familiarity of Microsoft suite software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in event coordination/management.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- SOEHS student currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
