Student Field Officer
Position Overview
KU Transportation Services is looking for student ticketing officers. The student will help patrol with a full-time officer or a fellow student officer in one of the LPR (License Plate Recognition) vehicles and/or the student may also be called upon to patrol an area by ticketing on foot using a handheld ticketing device. The student will also work in the information booths helping visitors navigate campus and making sure only certain permitted vehicles are allowed onto Jayhawk Boulevard during the restricted hours. The ideal candidate will work well on a team.
Job Description
General duties include, but are not limited to:
65%- Patrolling with another officer or alone in an LPR vehicle in an assigned area; or ticketing on-foot, writing parking violations.
25%-Relieving booth personnel for breaks and cover for the booth personnel in the event of their absence.
10%-Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written, as evidenced in application materials and interview.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Prior work experience with customer service. As evidenced by application materials.
- Students awarded Federal Work Study preferred.
Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
