Student Hourly Assistant –Gunn Center for the Study of Science Fiction
Position Overview
The Gunn Center for the Study of Science Fiction seeks a student hourly to work together with the Center's director, graduate research assistant, and the public. The position provides opportunities to develop social, academic and professional qualities and skills that are often desired by employers.
Job Description
An ideal candidate will have familiarity with speculative traditions (e.g., sci fi, fantasy, horror, magical realism) or integrations of STEM fields & the arts and humanities, enjoy working with social media, be organized, able to meet deadlines, and reliable. Student hourlies may be expected to do the following:
· 20% - Understand and promote CSSF programs, initiatives, and services as posted on the Center’s website;
· 30% - Support the Center's mission by posting events and announcements to social media and creating and editing related documents;
· 20% - Communicate effectively with supervisors, other CSSF staff, the KU community, and the public;
· 20% - Assist in staffing events;
· 10% - Perform other duties as requested.

Required Qualifications
1. Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and Acrobat.
2. Experience with social media platforms
3. Graduate or undergraduate student at KU (enrolled in at least six hours)
4. . During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
