Student Hourly-Events Intern


Position Overview

The University Career Center (UCC) is looking for an exceptional individual to help develop, enhance, and implement a variety of UCC events and programs for a large campus department. This position provides the opportunity for hands-on, resume building experience in event coordinator and program management. Ideally the candidate will be able to start in early September and continue through the 2026-2027 academic year. In addition the ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail and be an excellent communicator. They will also be a creative and innovative thinker with an interest in event and program development and coordination.

Job Description

50%-Administrative Projects
  • Support the administration and planning of UCC events and programs
  • Generate event materials, such as nametags, table signs, maps, and other
  • Support post-event data collection, organization, and reporting
  • Maintain and update event employer contacts in Handshake
  • General administrative support, including email, managing mail and shipped materials,
  • Oversite and organization of event materials and storage spaces
  • Process event payments and deposits
40%-Events Support
  • Provide on-site support for 10-12 UCC events and programming, per semester
  • Pre- and post-event task support
  • Coordinating volunteers
  • Troubleshooting employer questions
  • Represent the UCC at employer and career-related events
10%-Miscellaneous
  • Maintain UCC event assets, including technology, signage, and other event support materials
  • Other job duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  1. Exceptional communication skills, as evidenced by application materials
  2. Must have Federal Work Study eligibility
  3. Experience in Microsoft Office, as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  2. Ability to maintain a 3.0 GPA
  3. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Canva

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
