Student Hourly-Graduate Student

Position Overview

Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity (ETCWGE) at the University of Kansas (KU) seeks to support students' personal, educational, and professional success by challenging the patriarchal norms impeding full access to the University. Using an intersectional feminist framework, ETCWGE engages the campus community in expansive conversations around gender identity, raises awareness around inequity, and empowers students to advocate for themselves and others at the University of Kansas and beyond. In our work, we intentionally center on women and femmes as well as non-binary and trans people, especially those who are marginalized by racism, heterosexism, cissexism, ableism, classism, as well as patriarchy.

The ETCWGE team includes full-time professionals and student staff. The primary focus of this position is to assist in the coordination of ETCWGE programs and projects, including the women in science and student parent initiatives. This individual also assists in maintaining ETCWGE operations. This includes involvement in conceptualizing and planning events, organizing, and coordinating details, assisting in providing guidance, information, support, and referrals on gender-related issues to students, staff, faculty, and university departments, assisting in facilitating workshops/trainings/discussions on topics related to feminism and gender, preparing promotional materials, and coordination of ETCWGE volunteers. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Additional opportunities for involvement may include student group advising, campus collaboration, committee involvement, leadership programming, and professional development experiences.
