Position Overview
The Bilingual Language Laboratory (BLL) at the University of Kansas (KU), under the direction of Dr. Raúl Rojas, is seeking to hire students in any discipline who have an interest in bilingualism and child language development. The BLL at KU is conducting a series of projects related to the dual language development of Spanish-English speaking bilingual children and their families.
Job Description
The responsibilities for this BLL position consist of:
70% being trained to reliability in orthographic transcription in Spanish and English
30% coding of Spanish and English language samples or both.
In addition, selected applicants are expected to attend BLL meetings to oversee progress, troubleshoot, and discuss pertinent literature Opportunities for developing your own research project(s) using existing data from the BLL are available, yet not required.

Required Qualifications
- Moderate, advanced, or native oral and literate proficiency in Spanish, with the possibility of advancing your current level of Spanish proficiency.
- Ability to work on the KU Lawrence campus a minimum of 3 hours per week.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
