Student Hourly


Position Overview

The student hourly will work with Dr. Mohr on the election administration cost and financing project. This project will collect cost data on election administration in the United States from 2016 to 2024. The undergraduate research assistant will locate election administration spending data in the annual financial reports of the election jurisdictions. The student will need to be familiar with searching for documents on the internet, downloading them, searching within the documents for key terms, and then copying the corresponding cost data into a spreadsheet.

Job Description

This position's job duties can be broken down as follows:
50% - Locating/Collecting Data
50% - Data Entry

Required Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with internet searches.
  2. Adobe knowledge and skills to search through PDFs.
  3. Prior experience with Microsoft Excel.
  4. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Understanding of United States and local government, politics.
  2. Background in accounting and economics.
