Job Description

Student hourly position within the Student Engagement Center, formerly the Office of Multicultural Affairs. The student will serve on the Peer Education Team that will be tasked with serving as an ambassador, facilitator, and educator to the office and its overall mission.
  • Serve as an ambassador to the Student Engagement Center and its mission.
  • Assist in the creation of programs, and/or presentations to student organizations, classes, and/or units or groups on campus.
  • Collaborate with fellow peer educators to promote programs, and/or presentations.
  • Research and create educational materials for upcoming programs.
  • Oversee front desk and complete administrative office during evening operating hours including but not limited to welcoming guests, answering routine questions, maintaining the shared spaces in the building, and finishing projects and tasks requested by the Student Engagement Staff.
Selected candidates would be required to:
  • Attend biweekly meetings with the supervisor.
  • Complete training and other periodic training with the Administrative Associate, Program Coordinators, and /or SEC Staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have weekday and some evening availability.
  • Interest in working with individuals from various backgrounds as evidenced in application materials.
  • During the semester term of the appointment, the student must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods, the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester; (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours; (3) be enrolled in summer session; or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working on projects and/or organizations related to community-building.
  • Prior experience in office and/or customer service settings.
  • Availability to work 10 - 15 hours a week during the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Canva.
