Position Overview
Work with Prof. Outka and a multi-university research team funded by the Sloan Foundation to study the law and policy contexts for “Energy Transitions and Place.”
Job Description
The primary research the student will assist with and focus on is the development energy and environmental justice law at the state level. Student will have opportunity to work on other projects related to energy transitions at the community scale.

- Work with multi-university team of research assistants
- Find publicly available databases
- Find specific pieces of information or documents
- Legal research and writing (Law students only)
Required Qualifications
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
- Requires some background in energy law, environmental law, climate change law, and/or land use law and willingness to work collaboratively with a team of research assistants at other law schools.
