Student Hourly


Position Overview

The Korean Language Table Moderator will meet with students who want to practice speaking Korean outside of the classroom. They will lead the conversation and creative activities to facilitate the interaction with students under the guidance and supervisions of the KOR GTAs, CEAS staffs, and the Korean Language Program Coordinator.

Job Description

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare the conversation topic and/or cultural activity for each session based on the students’ proficiency level and class contents (15%)
  • lead the Language Table sessions in a friendly and professional manner (80%)
  • report the contents and the attendance of the Language Table to the CEAS and the Korean Program Language Coordinator regularly (5%).

Required Qualifications

  1. Native or near native oral and written communication skills in Korean as evidenced in application material or during initial interview
  2. Strong communication skills in English as evidenced in application material or during initial interview
  3. Experience tutoring or teaching any academic subject as evidenced in application material
  4. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in language teaching or in tutoring Korean to English speaking students
  2. Excellent personal motivation and self-management skills.
