Position Overview

The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department seeks course designers for ELPS 250, an undergraduate level course required of most students in the School of Education and Human Sciences. A course designer is tasked with developing new and innovative strategies to refresh and reinvigorate this important KU SOEHS course offering. Expectations include course structure design, including developing course materials, reimagining the course schedule and topics to ensure alignment with course goals, researching appropriate readings, and developing course videos to be integrated into ELPS 250 by the Fall of 2026.

Job Description

60% Course Materials Development
40% Course design planning meetings, through synchronous zoom sessions.

Required Qualifications

  1. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours.
  2. The student cannot be appointed as a GTA or GRA.
  3. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
  4. Previous experience with work that is detailed oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Be a KU graduate student in the School of Education & Human Sciences
  2. Student has previously instructed ELPS 250.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
