Student KU Fit Program Manager
Position Overview
The Program Manager is the primary student leader overseeing the administration, execution, and logistical support of the KU Fit group fitness program at the student rec center and will assist the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness in programming, scheduling, and executing group fitness classes.
Job Description
80% - Administration Management, Personnel, and Administrative Support:
- Assist with hiring and recruiting instructors.
- Manage the KU Fit outlook and respond to emails in a timely manner.
- Develop and lead monthly staff meetings.
- Be the communicator for all instructors (email, GroupMe app, text).
- Keep track of KU Fit class participation and substitutions.
- Keep instructor files and information up to date on the Student Drive.
- Coordinate trainings/workshops for the instructors.
- Keep track of class substitutions.
- Organize and plan KU Fit special events.
- Help coordinate Fitness/Wellness events for the department.
- Coordinate and organize private KU Fit events.
- Assist with creating the KU Fit schedule, instructor availability, and keeping track of participation numbers.
- Implement and update risk management procedures.
- Review Fusion reports and analyze data on participation numbers.
- Organizing and maintaining the aerobics studio and cycle studio.
- Organizing the equipment closets and keeping them tidy as well as taking inventory of KU Fit. equipment at least once per semester.
- Evaluate instructors and give feedback.
- Create participation feedback form and review feedback on Qualtrics.
Required Qualifications
- Possess current CPR/AED certification, or willing to obtain within 4 weeks of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as shown in application materials.
- Previous experience as a group exercise instructor.
- Completion of group fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, NASM, etc. or a specialty certification.
Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.

Advertised Salary Range
