Student Office Assistant
Position Overview
Student office assistant duties include assisting faculty and staff, clerical and receptionist tasks; including, filing, data entry, copying, scanning, drafting and editing documents, answering phones and assisting visitors to the office. Other duties may include assisting with the departmental website, scheduling appointments, running on-campus errands and other duties as assigned. Office assistants normally work 5-10 hours per week.
Successful candidates will have strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as being self-motivated, reliable, and able to work diligently.
This position requires a self-starter who can multi-task, think creatively, learn quickly, solve problems, see tasks through from beginning to end, and use of discretion in handling confidential information.
Student hourly positions working for the AE department will have GPA reviews at the end of each semester. If the KU GPA drops below 3.0, the position can be terminated.

Required Qualifications
- Experience with MS Office, especially Excel and Word as shown in application materials.
- 3.0 KU GPA.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 6 months experience with Adobe Acrobat
Position Requirements
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
