TA for JMC 101 - Student Hourly
Position Overview
This is a pool for undergraduate teaching assistants for JMC 101, which is ongoing through the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Job Description
This pool of undergraduate teaching assistants (UTA) will assist faculty with the teaching of JMC 101: Media and Society, the introductory course in the department.
Responsibilities may include:

- Assisting with the creation of course lectures, including interactive elements like polls, discussions and Google Slides presentations
- grade and moderate discussion boards
- attend weekly UTA meetings
- complete course readings, if not already completed in a previous semester
- Assist in proctoring and grading lecture exams
- Assist with office hours
- Be available to answer student questions through Canvas
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of JMC 101 and at least on JMC course at the 300 level
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Enrollment exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of previous KU Journalism and Mass Communications courses with a grade of B or better.
