Tax Intern
Position Overview
Tax interns work under supervision of LSS attorneys to provide tax assistance and education to the KU community.
Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).

Job Description
- 60% - Provides tax assistance, consults with and advises current KU Students under attorney supervision.
- 10% - Conducts legal/tax research, negotiation, and prepares correspondence.
- 20% - Assists with the educational functions of the office, such as preparing brochures, conducting workshops, tabling, and outreach.
- 10% - Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient computer skills
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Optional
- Experience working with college students.
- Tax courses and/or tax preparation experience.
