Theatre & Dance Student Event Staff


Position Overview

The ideal candidate(s) will provide support to the professional event staff during departmental events and performances of the University Theatre and University Dance Company by serving as house managers and/or box office staff.

Job Description

Duties will include answering phones, selling tickets, supervising volunteer ushers, assisting with patron accessibility and safety, and other tasks as assigned. Must be able to work in an often fast-paced and changing environment. Must be punctual and reliable. Hours will be assigned based on the event schedule and employee availability. May be asked to cover last-minute shifts due to illness or schedule changes.

Required Qualifications

  1. Strong customer service skills as evidenced in application material or from previous work experience
  2. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GTA/GRA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Computerized ticketing or other POS experience
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  3. Interest/experience in theatre and dance or other performing arts
  4. Federal Work Study eligible preferred

Advertised Salary Range

11.00/hr

Work Schedule

0-12 hours per week based on event/performance schedule. Mostly night and weekend hours.
