Theatre & Dance Student Office Assistant
Position Overview
The ideal candidate(s) will provide general office and reception duties, sell tickets, and serve as house management for Theatre & Dance productions.
Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).

Job Description
- General Office & Reception Duties (40%) - Answering phones, photocopying, sorting mail, directing students and visitors to appropriate places
- Box Office Customer Service (30%) - Selling tickets in person & by phone, cash handling.
- House Management (20%) – Serve as house manager of Theatre & Dance productions, supervise and train volunteer ushers, assist professional staff with patron accessibility and safety concerns.
- Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
Required Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills as evidenced in application material or from previous work experience
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GTA/GRA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Interest/experience in theatre, dance and/or other performing arts
- Retail or other sales experience
- Federal Work Study eligible preferred
