Position Overview
TRIO Supportive Education Services TRIO SES and TRIO STEM are much more than programs, we are a community. Our dedicated and experienced staff provide a welcoming, supportive, and inspiring place for students who are navigating the challenging environment of the University. As part of KU’s Center for Educational Opportunity Programs, TRIO SES & STEM aim to increase the college retention and graduation rates of participants, and to help them make the transition from one level of higher education to the next. TRIO provides comprehensive, personalized support services to eligible students, helping them achieve academic success and graduate with a bachelor’s degree. We also support students as they prepare for graduate school and for success in a global environment

Job Description
95% - Responsible for handling front office reception and administration duties, including, but not limited to, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments for professional staff, answering multi-line phone; assisting with mail preparation and distribution, entering data into database, making copies, and filing paperwork.
5% - Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, as evidenced in application materials.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain confidentiality, and work with students, as evidenced by application materials and interview.
Preferred Qualifications
- Participant of TRIO Program.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software, esp. Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Experience working in an office environment.
- Availability in 2-hour working blocks.
- Experience providing customer service.
- Experience working with TRIO or similar organizations.
- Eligible for work study.
Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
