Undergraduate Research Assistant
Position Overview
The student will need to work in the lab during business hours. The student will conduct research following directions from Dr. Gleason. The research will require meticulous note taking and attention to details. The student will work with multiple species of Drosophila and will be required to collect flies and larvae, maintain flies, and video record experiments. The student will work independently and collaboratively. Applicants should be aware that they will be working with larvae, thus should not be squeamish.
Job Description
- 100% research. Duties include meticulous note taking, maintaining cultures of flies and larvae, performing experiments, and maintaining the lab environment.
Required Qualifications
A. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
2) be preenrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
3) be enrolled in summer session or
4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
B. An undergraduate majoring in natural sciences
C. Must follow the specific application instructions
1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or

3) be enrolled in summer session or

Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate major in a biology field, especially EEOB.
- Ability to work in the lab for 2-3 hours at a stretch, 2-3 times a week.
- Available for the spring semester
