Job Description
The University Press of Kansas Editorial and Production Intern will assist the Acquisitions and Production Department. Applicants for this position must be able to work a regular schedule of 10-20 hours a week.
The intern will have the opportunity to learn about scholarly publishing and get hands-on experience in a relaxed but professional work environment. For this competitive internship student must complete proofreading test and provide a letter of recommendation from faculty.
Job duties:
25% Manuscript Processing - cleanup and coding or manuscript files
25% Compiling pitch memos, review of queries and proposals
20% Review and scanning of Art, editing and proofreading indexes
20% E-book processing - creating Web PDF's, quality assurance on e-book files
10% Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Must be a KU student enrolled in at least six credit hours.
- Must be able to work a regular schedule of 10 or more hours between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday weekly; option for some remote work after initial training period.
- Experience in editing for at least 6 months as evidenced by application materials and/or 6 or more credit hours of related coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to prioritize and multitask multiple projects at once as evidenced by application materials and/or coursework.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software and Outlook.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and FileMaker.
- Experience with Chicago Manual of Style.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills as evidenced by application materials and/or coursework.
