Position Overview

The Office of Academic Success, located in Strong 133 serves as a central point of connection and information for students, faculty, and staff. This office houses the Vice Provost for Academic Success as well as several team members from various units within Academic Success including Native Success Initiatives, the KU Core, and Success Initiatives. The Student Office Assistant is a critical member of the team providing front-line customer service and reception assistance at the front desk of the office suite. The Office of Academic Success is open from 8am – 5pm; Monday – Friday.

Job Description

The Academic Success Student Office Assistant welcomes drop-in students and guests by providing campus information, referrals, and instructions while creating a welcoming and inclusive office environment for all. The Student Office Assistant also provides service by answering the phone, referring messages and inquiries appropriately, retrieving and distributing office mail, accepting and distributing packages, responding to or forwarding departmental email, adding paper to the office copier, scanning documents, and assisting with special office projects and assignments for the unit. The position is responsible for staffing the reception desk of the office and ensuring that office needs are met.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite as demonstrated in the application materials.
  • Prior work experience that required high-quality customer service as evidenced by application materials
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at KU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eligible for Federal Work Study through KU Financial Aid.
  • Experience in a customer service position.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology systems.
  • Experience multitasking/executing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prior work experience as a communicator via phone, email, and other virtual means – as demonstrated by materials.
