Position Overview
The Undergraduate Geography & Atmospheric Science program is accepting applications for undergraduate Learning Assistants (LAs) to assist with various Geography or Atmospheric Science classes.
Job Description
LA duties may include, but are not limited to, serving as peer mentors in and out of class to facilitate student engagement and concept mastery, assisting faculty with development of activities, grading and evaluation of student assignments, creating online study and practice tools, and leading study sessions. LAs hired for these positions may be required to attend weekly course meetings and take part in regular teaching workshops before and throughout the semester. Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in geography or atmospheric science.

Required Qualifications
- Applicants must demonstrate a basic level of experience with and interest in evidence-based teaching methods as evidenced in application material.
- Applicants must be in good academic standing, as demonstrated in application materials.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
- Hold a 3.25 overall GPA
- GEOG/ATMO majors or minors, UKanTeach students, previous TAs in GEOG/ATMO, and previous GEOG/ATMO students with excellent outcomes will receive first consideration.
