Field and Lab Research Assistant
Job Description
- 60% operate soil fractionation equipment.
- 15% enter and manage data from analytical instruments.
- 15% manage soil sample collection.
- 10% miscellaneous lab and field work.
Required Qualifications
- Working towards a degree in the natural sciences or related field, as demonstrated in application materials.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with soil, gas, and water samples
- Experience with gas chromatography, ion chromatography, and discrete injection analyzers
- Experience with electronics
- Experience troubleshooting
- Ability to lift 35 pounds

Work Schedule
Work hours are generally between 8am-6pm M-F with the occasional field work over the weekends or overnight trips. 10-20 during semester, 40 hours during the summer.
