POOL: Jayhawk Consultant


Position Overview

The mission of the University of Kansas School of Business is to advance and impart business knowledge and prepare students to be leaders who positively contribute to business and society.

Jayhawk Consulting (a program of the KU School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship) is building a team of students who will provide advisory and consulting services to various clients from the community. These projects, while varying in scope and size, represent very real challenges organizations are facing and thus are seeking Jayhawk Consulting services for.

The team will be made up of qualified students who express curiosity, creativity, general business knowledge, and responsiveness. They will work up to eighteen hours a week during the semester and will gain valuable advisory, consulting, and professional experience by executing marketing, strategy, and other projects. Employees of Jayhawk Consulting can expect their networks to expand given the nature of the relationships they will be expected to build with their clients.

Job Description

  • Meet with existing clients and identify potential clients.
  • Complete assessments to identify and understand client's needs.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to design project timelines and produce deliverables.
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with clients and various stakeholders.
  • May be responsible for presentations, satisfaction surveys or program reports.
  • Must be available for weekly team meetings.

Required Qualifications

  1. Must be a KU student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Suites. Especially, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
During the semester of the appointment, the KU student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less that 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Evidence of strong communication, empathy and ability to relate to others.
  2. Demonstrated ability to attend to details and meet deadlines.

Advertised Salary Range

Undergraduate: Minimum $10/hr; Graduate: Minimum $12/hr

Work Schedule

Flexible, up to 18 hrs/week. M-F 8am - 5pm.
